Received letter from Latus this morning asking me to come down & make a start replied by wire that if he could keep job open until Friday would be down then Received answer To come & he would do his best for me
8 October Tuesday
Gave notice this morning, drew £2.12.4 wages due.

8 hours day today an a nice day for it am all ready to leave Pirie I hope for good…
18 October Friday
Finished my first weeks work with Latus received £3.12.0 as wages gave Clara £1.0-0 Received application form for vocational training and decided to go to repatriation tomorrow to make arrangements
19 October Saturday 1918
had an interview with the controller and am starting school monday night, at a course of enginedriving, stationary. which will take 12 months Went out to Cherry today by 12.35 train
20 October Sunday
Has been raining all night Had good sleep at my mother-in-laws.

Another miserable week finished received £3.5.7 wages gave Clara £1/0/.0 total earnings 31 days since I started work £18.1.3

My brother died of Bronchial Pneumonia being 23 years old
30 October Wednesday
Went to town to make application for job in Islington workshops but Bureau was closed
31 October Thursday
Went to town at 7.33.AM train applied at Bureau for job & received it will decide tomorrow at 11 oclock.
