We are expecting to move tomorrow… Went to relay first for 24 hours. at 1 P.M
2 September
The best day we have had since arriving here in YPRES

Went to baths at 9PM. had 5 mile walk through drisly rain and 5 mile back
6 September
Cleaning harness all day, on guard in evening.
7 September
was relieved from guard at 5.45. PM. went on leave in to village which is only 5 minutes walk from lines…
9 September
… Bombardment still going on. received letters from home, Clara
10 September
Had lovely day, had church parade, on guard in evening…
18 September
Left for firing line at 8.30 a.m. to Scotties wood. Raining all day arrived at Position at 12.20 P.M. …
19 September
Has stopped raining though it is terrible slushy under foot everywhere. On Phone in afternoon
20 September
Turned out at 8.30 a m on Phone until 12 noon Had afternoon off Turned in at 10 P.M.
21 September
Has been raining all night turned out at 5.30 a m had breakfast went up to trench 11 at 7 a.m took over A59 station at 8.5.am all O.K. things very quiet.
22 September
Things going O.K. have settled down in our new position and it is not so bad now as we are having a little fine weather.
24 September
had a fairly quiet day went to front Line with skipper.
26 September
Left for F.L.T. [Front Line Trenches] at 7.15 am for a 24 hours run on Artillery observing station
27 September
Things going almost the same there is not much change in life here
28 September
Had a quiet day, the weather still keeping fine, that is one blessing.
29 September
Went through gas school and came out O.K.
