‘Our Boys in Action’
Where are you now, you critics – you who slandered oft the Boys?
What say you to the message from the King?
Or can you through war’s murky gloom perceive the golden joys
That our soldiers’ glories to the nation bring?
‘Brave daring dash and gallantry,’ the kingly message runs,
We read it ever with a grateful thrill,
For we who know and love them never doubted what they’d do,
As we watched them down at dusty Morphettville.
And the others soon will join them, and then they’ll do the same –
And face the foe as steady as a rock,
Australia’s sons, whate’re it be, will proudly play the game,
“Chips” forever off the grand old British block.
