1 November Sunday 21st After Trinity
rose at 9 oclock a very dreary day went down to the beach in morning, for a walk came home and had a sleep in afternoon did not go out all day after. It is very dreary with no one to go about with, one having to be ones own company
2 November Monday
The official opening ceremony of the PT Adelaide Tramway.
4 November Wednesday
Went to pictures had not been in to the performance more than 20 minutes before a thunderstorm swept over the town and a deluge of rain followed resulting in the crowd having to remove themselves from open show to the Semaphore town Hall. got home at 11 oclock.
7 November Saturday 1914
stayed home all day, it being no use going out looking for work. So one has to console himself to make the best of it …
8 November Sunday 22nd after trinity
a very hot day wrote P. C to Mrs Wade had a lay down in afternoon until Clara arrived, as she paid us a visit this afternoon Went to church in evening with her then went for stroll along the beach. Arrived home rather tired after pleasant evening at 11 oclock
9 November Monday
rose at 6.45, got cleaned had breakfast went to town with Clara as she stayed all night arrived home at 11.30 from Adelaide after a tiresome search for work in same. The heat being intense .
10 November Tuesday
stayed home as I am coming to the conclusion that one is just as well off at home doing nothing as looking in vain for work
16 November Monday
Went out for a look round but had no luck re work…Raining nearly all day first good rain we have had for sometime. Pastoral Districts greatly benefited.
18 November Wednesday
did a little turning in morning and in afternoon went to meet Clara Lewis, Stayed and had a look at the troop go by…
19 November Thursday 1914
…Wrote to Military Commandant Adelaide re going away in a contingent for the tropics
20 November Friday
Went out for a stroll this is all one has to do at present as things are terrible I have just about had a skin full of loafing about. And hope that the Military authorities will accept my application…been out of work 9 weeks and have not earned a penny
24 November Tuesday
Went down cockling with Sid and Eric got home at 3.20 with sufficient bait for next day But to our great discomfort we were all three severely sunburnt as an outcome of cockling in bathing costumes

knocked about all day until 5 oclock when I got cleaned to go and meet Clara…
