A world away: South Australia’s War is a digital re-enactment of the events of the First World War told from the perspective of South Australians.
The accounts of various South Australians will be told in a blog format with monthly updates taken from the diaries and letters of South Australians who were directly impacted by the war.
Each month, from August 1914 to the end of the war, a new post will present an overview of events from 100 years earlier, and extracts from the relevant diaries, letters and newspapers. The posts will also be accompanied by short explanatory texts outlining people, places organisations and topics to help visitors to the site to make sense of the complex set of events that make up the First World War.
All the letters and diaries that we have used in this blog are part of the collection of the State Library of South Australia.
