10th Battalion – August 1918
AUGUST 1 – HONDEGHEM [northern France]
Battalion moved in Motor Buses from V 15 b 8.3 to Heuringhem.
2 – HEURINGHEM [northern France]
Battalion cleaned equipment.

Route march.
4.
Church parade held .
5.
Battalion bath at Coubronns. Afternoon, battalion parade.
6.
Battalion marched to Wizernes and entrained for Pont Remy, arriving there at 5.30 on morning of 7th.
7 – CONQUEREL
Battalion marched from Pont Remy to Cocquerel, rested there during day, and embussed at 8.30pm at Fontaine-Sur Somme for Poulainville, arriving there at midnight.
8 – POULAINVILLE
Battalion marched to Harbonnieres.
9 – HARBONNIERES
Battalion moved forward and bivouacced [sic] there for night.
10.
Orders were received that the advance was to be continued at 8am, with a view of capturing Blue Line.
10-11.
Acting under above-mentioned orders Battalion advanced and took their objectives.
11.
Battalion was relieved by 2nd Battalion and bivouacked [sic] in area.
12.
Battalion relieved the right portion of Australian Imperial Force, holding line.
13.
“D” Company was temporarily disbanded, half joining A Coy and the other half B Coy.
14.
Battalion was relieved by 9th Battalion, Australian Imperial Force on night of 14th and removed to the new quarters.
15 – VAIRE [eastern France]
Battalion moved to Vaire.
16.
Swimming parade. Battalion paid.
17.
Change of clothing. Battalion rested.
18.
Church parade.
19.
Battalion parade. Water sports.
20.
Battalion took part in Brigade water sports.
21 – HARBONNIERES
Battalion marched from Vaire to reserve area.
22.
Bivouaced [sic].
23 – PROYART [northern France]
At 1am, Battalion moved…During the morning A and B Company assisted 1st Brigade in clearing Luc Wood. They established a line on left flank of First Brigade, 500 yards in advance of Luc Wood.
24.
Battalion headquarters took up new position.

25 – CAPPY
Battalion moved forward and established a line in front of Olympia Wood.
[see Appendix 23 – Transport Officer’s report…1 mule was killed during these operations, and 1 mule is missing. Two (2) light [draught horses] have since been received to replace casualties. Grazing has been carried out continuously during the month. All the animals are in good condition.]
26.
Battalion moved forward beyond Chateau Orchard. At 2pm Battalion headquarters moved… At 4pm Companies again moved forward and established a line…Battalion was relieved by the 21st Battalion, the same night, and moved back.
27 – CERISY
Battalion moved back to Cerisy area.
28 – CERISY AREA
Battalion bath. And paid.
29.
Musketry practice at rifle range.
30.
Battalion employed clearing up camp and preparing parade ground. In the afternoon Battalion paraded to rifle range to receive a lecture by Brigade I.O.
31.
Morning spent by Commanding Officer lecturing to his Battalion. In afternoon, clothing and recreational parade.
