Terrell, Frederick Leopold – August 1918
1 August
Reported at Barracks & received very little satisfaction and could not even get Railway warrant to Sth Australia saw a Q M G & received orders to report tomorrow at Spencers street station No 9 Plat at 3.15 PM.
2 August
3.15 PM. No 9 Platform Left Melbourne at 6.15 PM at last after a lot of muddling about every thing done on train to make us comfortable arrived at Balarat in time for a late tea which was provided by the red cross society.
3 August
Arrived in Adelaide & saw my people for the first time for 3 years & 6 months then proceeded to Keswick Barracks where I had same trouble as in Melbourne receiving 14 days leave until they found out particulars regarding me now 3 P.M.
4 August
Had a real day home the first for a long long time. Had my dear girl with me and life still seems to have something in it worth living for after all.
5 August
had a queer experience last night almost getting bushed. Spent all day lolling about.
6 August
helped Dad all the morning and on the whole spent a fair day
7 August
Went to Clarendon at 8 AM arrived back at Went into the city on coach at 5 P.M arrived at Uncle Lionels at 8 PM after little experiences such as going too far in the tram & almost getting caught by the inspectors for travelling without tickets
8 August
Left Ashbrook Avenue at 11 AM & went into city met Clara at 1.30 PM & went to the trench comforts meeting in the evening went out to NTH Adelaide got home & into bed at 12 MIDnight
9 August
Went to Largs & then to Granmothers saw Aunt Grace & got the usual reception.
Saw all Uncle Arthurs people and did not arrive home until 12.30 AM I am afraid I am becoming a night owl.
10 August
Left Alberton at 8.55 AM and did my shopping in town & caught 1.24 train for Blackwood, real nice weather arrived home at 5.30 PM feeling very tired stayed the night at Claras place Bed at 12.10 AM
11 August
After a nice peaceful nights sleep turned out at 8.20 AM. get cleaned and had breakfast
15 August
Left Cherry at 5.10 PM by coach for Adelaide arrived out at Ashbrook Avenue at 8 PM with Clara had tea, and had enjoyable evening left to go home with Clara at 11 PM was driven in, in Lionels car
26 August
Received my discharge today & things are not satisfactory at all, reported at Naval Depot at 2.30 PM to Commander Burford and stated my case full particulars were taken & my case is to be investigated through Commander Bracegirdle. re my application for Artificer 5th Class
27 August
Reported pay office at 10.30 AM
